Joel Sanders will present a lecture at the New York School of Interior Design that traces the evolution of two decades of work on gender, identity, and design from the publication of his book of essays, STUD: Architectures of Masculinity (1996) to his recent research/design initiative Stalled! on Wednesday, February 22 at 6 pm. The talk will look at shifting cultural conceptions about masculinity, femininity, and LGBTQ rights over the past 20 years. Divided into four chronological sections that correspond to four cultural issues that have shaped Sanders’ writing and projects, this talk will provide the audience with new ways of seeing important cultural issues that resonate today.
